Week Negative One
January 2, 2026
Welcome to my very first blog post! You'll forgive me if this is boring or poorly written or etc. I have decided that I am going to attempt to write a weekly blog in 2026. Ain't that exciting? I've been wanting to start a blog for a while and I personally find that novelty challenges are the best way to do hard things. This is my practice post and I'm writing it over the last two weeks of 2025.
I am currently on my winter break after my first semester of college, which is fun. It actually isn't; without the structure of school I tend to lose all concept of time and also where I am and who I am. I currently have 2-3 existential crises per day and can't remember the last time I went outside.
I've been rewatching The 100. It is slowly taking over my life. Per usual, there are silly fictional people consuming the majority of my thoughts and, per occasionally, I am in a phase wherein watching a certain tv show constantly is the only thing that can stave off the horrors. I watched The 100 for the first time a few years ago and have been meaning to rewatch it since Final Destination 6 came out. A brief review: I still love it, I feel like I like the first half more and the second half less than I did the first time, Murphy is my still favourite but Clarke and Bellamy are the best part of the show and also an all-time ship for me. I've been taking some notes on the show; I have a running tally of everyone's kill counts that I update in my diary with a fuzzy pen. 10/10 hobby, would recommend. In addition to my silly little notes I have also obtained (and read) a copy of the first book and a Clarke-coded blue henley, and I've been watching a bunch of convention panels which is fun and different. Normally I enforce a rule that I'm only allowed to watch/read interviews from magazines or the Letterboxd Youtube channel, and the fact that I have now seen like six hours worth of convention panels for this stupid tv show is proof of why that rule exists. Anyways. I wasn't exaggerating when I said it's taking over my life. In conclusion: fellow Amazon Prime users, if you download the show, you don't get any ads. That or use an ad blocker if you're on web.
This is my first blog post, so I suppose I should give context for myself and my life. I love art and I dabble in a wide variety of mediums, but tend to focus on one at a time. I usually have A Project to keep me busy. Semi-recently I was really into zines again and then I had a week long hardcore paper mache phase, the results of which are below.
A few zine WIPS, feat. some early attempts at fanzines.
My three recent paper mache projects, all of which were started over the course of the last year
and finished last week. They are, in order, a shelf for my zine collection, a Picture Face Lizzy
from the book Picture Face Lizzy, and a Mycellium Man from FNAF Secret of the Mimic. Not to be a
FNAF fan on main, but look at that little guy.
Other than that I've been working on this website, doing my yearly declutter, and knitting while watching Degrassi (and sometimes Skins). I'm on season six of Degrassi: The Next Generation and it wavers between boring and pretty good, but the first season of Skins is like really good, so there's that. I've only "gone out" on my own like three times in the last two weeks and haven't left the house with my family much more than that, which is probably not helping the ol' mental health. I have been technically productive though.
That concludes my first post! In case you couldn't already tell, my blog is likely going to consist mostly of me talking about tv shows and craft projects. I have some other ideas, don't worry. Bye!
(I'll think of a better sign off eventually)
Website Patch Notes
January 2, 2026
Claire's Planet has gotten a significant update!
Changes:
-
I finally downloaded Visual Studio code. Very impressive, I know. Previously this website only existed in cloud saves on Github, but now I'm working off of a local version. This doesn't change the site at all, but it's a big deal for me.
-
Font sizes have changed. They are different now.
-
Blue navigation bar background is now lighter for better text contrast.
-
Banner images now scale properly.
-
Homepage banner is different now
-
The custom font is now installed locally. For some reason.
-
Writing subpages are now local pages instead of external links, and two new short fiction pieces have been added.
-
New blog page! It's a whole new page!
Known Issues I'm Not Solving:
-
Navigation bar background tiling doesn't work on mobile.
-
Portfolio grid doesn't work (on two of the three pages) when using wider screen.
-
Zines page has issues on mobile and wider screen.
-
Alt text. There isn't any.
